The Middle School Volleyball team competed for the first time in the Parochial Volleyball League in the seventh grade division.  The team is shown here with their Sportsmanship Award.  Congratulations girls!

The Science Center of Iowa (SCI) presented a free assembly to Assumption first through sixth graders on Friday, October 17, 2008.  Joe, from the SCI presented educational information on electricity.  Right: a student is holding a lit flourescent lightbulb without touching an electric source.  Below: Students are making live atoms.  As you look close you will see the positive protons, the neutral neutrons and the moving negative electrons.  Bottom right: Joe is showing that electricity jumps through the air.

The Assumption 3 and 4 year olds visited the Granger Fire Station on Wednesday, October 15, 2008.  They learned about all the equipment that firemen use to be safe while putting out fires.

Because of a generous donation, Assumption School is getting a whole new set of computers in the computer lab plus three additional student computers in each classroom.  Open Technologies currently is installing the Sun System computers which are faster, more powerful and more energy efficient than the previous models.  With this system teachers and students will have reliable technology to assist in their education.  Stop in to take a look at the updated machines!

On Thursday, October 2, 2008 Bishop Richard Pates celebrated All-School Mass with Assumption students and visited the students in their classroom afterwards.  He took time to talk to them about their importance in the life of the Church, allowed the students to ask him questions and blessed each class.
