The Kindergarten, Seventh and Eighth Graders shared their speech skills on Thursday, May 28th.


Assumption Students shared their musical talents on Thursday, May 14th as they sang and played songs about food.


The Seventh and Eighth Graders visited many sites during their recent trip to the northeast part of the state.  To see a slideshow of some of the sites, click here. Thank you to Father Koch for making this trip possible for our students!


Assumption K-4 students visited Blank Park Zoo to continue their classroom study of animals.


On May 4, 2009 the Assumption community celebrated May Crowning.


In 5th and 6th grade Social Studies, students showed what they have learned about the Constitution, Louisiana Purchase, War of 1812, and the Gold Rush by writing and performing their own plays.   


The First Graders recently wrote reports on their heroes.  They dressed as their hero when they read their report to the class. 


The Pre-School Students spent some time playing in the gym this week with a parachute.  They also were studying the circus so they created large elephant ears to wear for the day.


The Seventh and Eighth Graders are creating structures - buildings, bridges, etc. - in Science class that they are going to use in simulated earthquakes.  They will then improve upon their designs to make them structurally sound during an earthquake.



Assumption 5th and 6th Grade Science Students were given a set of materials - 2-liter bottle, clay, straws of different sizes, balloons, and small cups - and were asked to attempt to create a rocket using them.  Since the weather was nice and there was water being sprayed, they utilized the front lawn of the school to show off their work.


Fourteen Assumption MS students participated in a Show Choir event at DCHS with approximately 150 other diocesan school students. 


                On April 1, 2009 Father Koch blessed the newly renovated entrance to the school.


The Seventh and Eighth Graders have been working on circuits in science class.  They used this opportunity to build numerous examples of alarms that would be set off when the circuit was completed.


The artwork honoring Mr. Larry Kruckenberg was hung this week.

Assumption 3rd-4th Graders recently studied the skeletal system and visited the Dallas County Hospital on March 25th to learn more about the human body.


Assumption Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten students learned the proper way to wash their hands from three Mercy nursing students.


A volunteer from the parish is working with Assumption
Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten students once a week.  They are learning basic vocabulary and hear books read in both English and Spanish.

     Assumption students gather on Saturdays to participate in Chess Club.  


Assumption 3rd Graders are currently working in groups to produce informational
brochures of their hometown.


Assumption students are participating in World Math Day activities by racing students around the world on numerous math problems.  On the first day of competition, our students answered over 11,000 problems correctly!


Three of our Middle School students have been practicing their instruments with Mrs. Kenkel.  On Monday, February 16 the students participated in a diocesan-wide concert at Veterans Memorial Auditorium.



To finish off CSW 2009, families enjoyed a night at the Tiger Bowl in Madrid.

To kick-off CSW 2009 Assumption students celebrated Mass with the rest of the parish.  Mary Somsky was honored as the Assumption School 2009 Distinguished Alumni.
